Grand Sheik, Divine Minister, Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey, the beloved son of the late Helen M. Christian and Bernard F. Dent was formed in flesh on September 7, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland and departed out of flesh on Thursday November 28, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland. Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey attended Baltimore City Public Schools, where he graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1971. While attending Dunbar he was the captain and quarterback for the Dunbar Poets football team and also played baseball. He furthered his education at the University of Baltimore where he studied law. While in college, he played semi pro football. After graduating from UB he studied several courses in paralegal. Later he opened up his own construction company titled Mighty Bey Enterprises; he was in business for fifteen years. In the late 1970’s he was the manager of Washington St. Wildcats for four years.
In 1978, Bernard Francis Dent-Bey joined the Moorish Science Temple of America. Falling in love with the lofty teachings of Prophet Noble Drew Ali, he became a most devoted student under the tutelage of Dr. R. German-Bey. Dr. R. German-Bey, who was known as “Prince of Peace” was made a Sheik by Prophet Noble Drew Ali himself. Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey also mentioned that he was a student of Grand Sheik Timothy Dingle-El and Grand Sheik Richardson Dingle-El. During this time he became a Sheik, Divine Minister and Adept instructor. On May 3, 1989 he married his best friend Martha A. Dent-Bey. From that union they had three more children. Bernard Francis Dent-Bey always had encouraging words to say no matter the situation was; and he always had your best interest at heart.
Bernard Francis Dent-Bey was a very charismatic teacher who loved spreading his words of wisdom and assisting anyone he deemed in need. Bernard Francis Dent-Bey was truly an enthusiastic and inspirational leader amongst leaders. He challenged all he encountered to think outside the box. Bernard Francis Dent-Bey historically became the first Moorish American Chaplin in the U.S.A. at the Baltimore City Jail where he taught incarcerated individuals the Islamic faith, of their Moorish Ancestry, Nationality and Divine Creed. He also established the Universal Unity Temple on Saratoga Street in Baltimore where he served as Chairman. A Divine Minister indeed, Bernard Francis Dent-Bey was always on the road traveling; whether in Chicago, New Jersey or Washington DC whenever you needed him, Bernard Francis Dent-Bey was only a phone call away.
During his last days in the flesh, Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey was making his mission to unite with National Grand Sheik J. Bratton-Bey to bring together the two great umbrellas of the Divine side and National side of the Moorish movement that was not being taught to the masses and to the Moorish community at large, and to end all confusion pertaining to the Moorish movement. It was a great demonstration of putting aside egos, titles, faction disputes and having two Grand Sheiks focused on one agenda; which was to save the nation, help the people and strengthen the true teachings of Prophet Noble Drew Ali according to the Four Proclamations of President Abraham Lincoln, the 13th Amendment with 20 sections, Constitutional law and the Prophet’s foundation that was expanded by Grand Sheik Richardson Dingle-El for uniformity under Charter Warrant & Dispensation. The Divine side was to be enforced by Grand Sheik Bernard Francis Dent-Bey who would reinforce the teachings of the Prophet Noble Drew Ali’s literature as passed down to Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey by his teachers in the purest form, and the National side of the Moorish movement would be enforced by National Grand Sheik J. Bratton-Bey which was previously demonstrated by Grand Sheik Richardson Dingle-El who was instructed by Reincarnated Prophet John Givens-El to resurrect the 13th Amendment with 20 sections and the National side of the Moorish movement. Of course we know Allah is the best of planners, Brother Bernard Francis Dent-Bey stayed in the flesh to do what he was meant to do and pass on. The mission remains the same.
Bernard Francis Dent-Bey will be cherished in the memories of his wife, seven children, two sisters, five brothers, seven granddaughters, five grandsons, four nieces, thirteen nephews, two daughter-in-laws, a mother-in-law, seven-in-laws and his Moorish American family and students. In attendance for his wake and funeral were family members, members of the Moorish Science Temple of America, and members of the Masonic Temple.
