A Brief History Of The Origin Of The Moorish Children Sunday School For M.A.N.R In Baltimore, Maryland
Sheikess Gloria Cherry-El (above Photo) is The National Director of The Moorish American Children’s Sunday School of The Moorish American National Republic. She domiciles in Baltimore, Maryland and has an earth-day of February 12, 1947. Sheikess Gloria Cherry-El was Naturalized June 8, 1975 and was elevated to Sheikess on September 16, 1975. Prophet Noble Drew Ali the 3rd, Grand Sheik Richardson Dingel-El appointed Sheikess Cherry-El as The Director of the Moorish Children’s Sunday School in the late 70’s. Prophet Noble Drew Ali the 3rd, Grand Sheik Richardson Dingle-El was her esteemed mentor*.
After sharing a vision of the Moorish Children’s Sunday School with the Prophet in the 3rd form (reincarnated) he advised her to compose her thoughts to paper so she could present her vision to him formally. After careful review, he uttered the words, “Daughter you drew my heart.” As a loyal advisor and teacher Prophet Noble Drew Ali the 3rd, Grand Sheik Richardson Dingel-El entrusted Sheikess Cherry-El with the care and education of the Moorish Children’s Sunday School. The Moorish Children’s Sunday School grew from Sheikess Cherry-El’s living room to a full staff of instructors and assistants with separate class room settings within The Temple. The school aged children ranged from 0 to teens, where they would be prepared to enter the Adult Moorish Sunday School. Several Students as young as seven years of age were elevated to Adepts.
Due to the unique lessons (unique curriculum), the children were taught at an early age. There were lessons such as learning how to read the map and world globe at the same time, demonstrating Chapter 47 of the Holy Koran Circle 7, learning the Moorish Prayer, Act 6, learning how to write, specialized class assignments, cultural trips and plays, etc.
Sheikess Seabreeze-Bey, another Sunday school Instructor at the temple was instrumental in scheduling Baltimore’s “The Evening Sun” newspaper to conducted an interview on Sunday, August 21, 1988 for an article to be published entitled, “Taking A Stand – Moorish-American’s Want Their Nation Restored.” The article appeared in the newspaper on Wednesday, August 24, 1988. The article reflected the Moorish perspective on religion and the Moorish-American community’s desire to reclaim their rightful Nationality within the Americas.
Sheikess Cherry-El also assisted where she was needed within Temple, serving as: Acting National Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, and Recording Secretary for the Adept Chamber; as well as, assisted The Prophet on unique missionary work.
Sheikess Gloria Cherry-El continues to domicile in Baltimore, Maryland and is a commissioned notary for the state of Maryland.
